In Norse sagas, Odin, also known as Woden, is regarded as the highest-ranking god alongside Thor. As the father of the gods and mankind, Odin rides on his eight-legged horse Sleipner and rules over Valhalla accompanied by his bearers of knowledge, the ravens Hugin and Munin. NL2 Odin, a formidable and adaptable knife in our laminated VG10 steel, pays homage to this powerful deity. The knife's striking action is excellent, and it maintains a nimble feel, avoiding any sense of clumsiness. In crafting the Northern Light Series, no expense has been spared to ensure the knife is as strong, beautiful, and comfortable as possible, providing both visual pleasure and a thrilling user experience.

The blade is crafted from laminated VG10 steel, where the edge features our renowned VG10 steel, and the sides are made of durable, all-stainless 420J2 steel. This combination delivers desirable properties such as resilience, resistance to torque, and edge durability within a single blade. A 6.5 mm thick blade alone would be sufficiently strong for most tasks, but with laminate technology, an additional 20% strength in resistance to bending is achieved compared to an ordinary VG10 blade.

The handle is constructed from specially selected oxhide, a material often overlooked by manufacturers, yet it provides a secure and rugged grip. It ages gracefully, developing an attractive brown patina over the years, and remains impervious to oil, solvents, and water. While dryness may cause minor cracks on the handle, they disappear when the knife is back in use.

The NL2 Odin knife features the enduring convex edge, chosen for its ultimate combination of cutting performance and edge strength. This type of edge can only be crafted by hand, setting it apart from the vast majority of mass-produced knives. While CNC robots and grinders shape blades in mass production, achieving good results, true top-tier strength, corrosion resistance, edge durability, and design require the craftsmanship of a trained knifesmith.
